Postdoc in Molecular Biosensors at Point-of-Use (MOBIUS)

Project Description:

  • This position is for a Postdoctoral Researcher who will play a key role in advancing research excellence in sensing technologies. The role involves contributing to a major industry-aligned project funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Research Council’s Industrial Transformation Research Programme.
  • This position will work as part of a collaborative team, working closely with fellow postdoctoral researchers and PhD candidates across ARC Research Hub for Molecular Biosensors at Point-of-Use (MOBIUS) and other research groups focused on molecular biosensing for point-of-use applications.

  • The primary objective of MOBIUS is to accelerate the growth of Australia’s biosensing industry. The Hub brings together industry, government, and academic experts from diverse fields in chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering to collaborate on complex problems and generate new commercial opportunities. It also aims to build an ecosystem to train the next generation of biosensor researchers through deep engagement of researchers and students with industry.

Required Qualification:

Essential Qualification:

  • Demonstrated ability to acquire, analyse, and interpret complex research data, with expertise in advanced electrochemistry and electrochemiluminescence (ECL).
  • Proven experience developing prototype sensors, including surface modification and electrochemical interface design.
  • Capability to integrate optical characterisation methods (e.g., multispectral imaging) and computational tools such as machine learning or AI into research workflows.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, milestone delivery, and working with industry partners toward commercialisable outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating with industry and academic stakeholders to translate research findings into practical applications.
  • Track record of high-quality research outputs, presentations, and contribution to supervision of students.
  • Experience in laboratory operations, including equipment oversight, procurement, and safety compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, foster inclusive and high-performing team culture, and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
