Postdoc in Conjugated Semiconductor Synthesis for Organic Photodetectors

Project Description:

  • We are looking for a postdoc to join our team at the Division of Applied Chemistry, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Become part of our innovative group and contribute to exciting research in organic photodetectors within a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • The project focuses on the development and synthesis of new π-conjugated organic semiconductors for high-performance organic photodetectors. The work integrates molecular and materials design with organic synthesis, purification, and thin-film characterization, in close collaboration with partners responsible for device fabrication and testing. The overall aim is to establish clear structure–property–performance relationships and thereby enable the development of efficient and stable photodetectors for next-generation sensing and imaging applications.
What you will do
  • You will design, synthesize, and fully characterize new π-conjugated organic semiconductors (small molecules and/or polymers) tailored for organic photodetectors, including thin-film processing and structure–property optimization. In close collaboration with device researchers, you will iteratively improve OPD performance and stability by linking material structure and morphology to key device metrics.
  • Supervise master’s and/or PhD students to a certain extent
  • Possibility to engage in teaching at undergraduate/master’s level

Required Qualification:

Essential Qualification:

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a relevant field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience in synthesis and characterizations of organic semiconductors.

Preferred Qualification:

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • Experience in organic photovoltaic, organic photodetectors

Employment Conditions and Benefits:

Contract duration:

  • The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
  • The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.

Benefits:

  • As a postdoc at Chalmers, you are an employee and enjoy all employee benefits. Read more about  working at Chalmers  and our benefits  for employees.
