Postdoc in hybrid quantum systems of atoms, motion and light
Project Description:
- The long-term aim of our group is to develop a hybrid quantum system capable of generating macroscopic quantum states of motion. To this end, we are trapping strontium atoms in optical tweezers to do cavity QED with nanophotonic cavities and developing on-chip optomechanical systems with ultracoherent mechanical resonators. You would engage with either or both of these projects and work with talented PhD students to advance the state-of-the-art in nanomechanics, optomechanics and cavity quantum electrodynamics. This is a highly multidisciplinary project involving nanofabrication, optomechanics and experimental atomic physics.
What you will do
- Lead and conduct research in collaboration with others
- Develop your skills
- Contribute creative ideas and implement them
- Work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Supervise master’s and/or PhD students to a certain extent
- The position is meritorious for future roles in academia, industry, or the public sector.
Required Qualification:
Essential Qualification:
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
Preferred Qualification:
The following experience will strengthen your application:
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
