Postdoctoral Fellow in Morad Lab

Project Description:

  • The nature of surface ligands plays a central role in defining the stability, reactivity, and optoelectronic properties of semiconductor nanocrystals. In the Morad Lab, we focus on the synthesis of functional surface ligands and the development of new molecular motifs that bind, passivate, and electronically couple to semiconductor nanocrystal surfaces.
  • We invite applications from postdoctoral candidates with strong training in organic synthesis. This position is ideal for a skilled and creative synthetic chemist interested in applying organic synthesis to solve challenges in nanoscience, surface chemistry, and materials design.

Required Qualification:

Essential Qualification:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or a closely related field with strong focus on synthetic chemistry.
  • Experience with retrosynthetic analysis, multistep organic synthesis, air- and moisture-sensitive reactions (Schlenk line), isolation and purification techniques, as well as detailed molecular characterization (e.g., NMR spectroscopy).

Preferred Qualification:

  • Additional considerations will be given to candidates with prior experience in steady-state and time-resolved optical spectroscopy or colloidal nanocrystal ligand design.
