Position Description:
- UWA is seeking applications from enthusiastic, forward-thinking and collaborative academics with passion for teaching and research. Multiple opportunities are available across the School of Molecular Sciences, in the broad disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Genetics. Positions are full-time appointment on a tenurable basis.
Your role:
- This position will teach into the Chemistry and allied programs, and undertake independent and
collaborative research at the Inorganic and Materials Chemistry interface. You will contribute to
the on-going success of the School and University, through appropriate service and internal and
external engagement tasks, including with the community, professional, commercial or industrial
sectors. Key responsibilities will include contributing to the development of a world-class research
program and an innovative, inclusive teaching program in Chemistry, with a focus on student
experience and graduate employability and supporting, where required, other teaching and
administration within the School, including in the School’s offshore programs.
The appointee will be expected to develop an externally funded program of independent and
collaborative research, in an area associated with Inorganic and / or Materials Chemistry, and
contribute to the development and delivery of high quality teaching and training across the
undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. The succesful appointee will support the
School and University through appropriate service roles, including through external
engagement.

units and courses

Research
- A demonstrable track record in excellence in research evidenced by peer-reviewed journal
articles published in high quality journals relative to opportunity
- A demonstrable emerging track record of successful competitive funding application, relative
to opportunity
- Demonstrate evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students, relative to
opportunity
Service/ Engagement
- Demonstrable capacity for participation in education/research leadership through public
engagements that promote research and/or education outcomes to government and industry
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a
commitment to equity and diversity principles.
- Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to team, school such as team and school meetings,
and program development.
- Contribute diverse perspectives to the academic cohort of the School of Molecular Sciences.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to participate in the vibrant academic life of the School, and wider
University activities, including but not limited to strategic planning, committee service roles and
international travel for teaching commitments.
