Early-stage dynamics of hot QCD matter in heavy-ion collisions with heavy quarks
Project Description:
- The selected candidate will join the research group of Prof. Vinod Chandra at IIT Gandhinagar and collaborate closely with Prof. Santosh Kumar Das’s group at IIT Goa. The project focuses on developing a comprehensive understanding of heavy quark dynamics across different stages of hot QCD matter, with emphasis on the pre-equilibrium phase. The candidate will also study heavy quark transport in a realistic quark–gluon plasma, incorporating magnetic fields, spin effects, and the QCD equation of state. Additionally, the candidate will participate in teaching and related academic activities as per institute norms.
Required Qualification:
Essential Qualification:
- Applicants must have a good academic record (with minimum of 60% or equivalent grade from Graduation onwards and 55% or equivalent grade in class 10th and 12th)
- Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Theoretical High Energy Physics, with specialization in areas related to hot QCD matter.
- Candidates who have submitted their thesis are also eligible to apply.
Preferred Qualification:
- Preference will be given to applicants with a strong research track record in finite-temperature field theory approaches to hot QCD matter, heavy quark dynamics, kinetic theory, relativistic hydrodynamics, and spin hydrodynamics, particularly in the context of heavy quark transport
