Sun Pharma Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program
Overview:
- The Sun Pharma Science Foundation (SPSF) invites applications from outstanding young researchers for Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Programme in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Building on SPSF’s long-standing commitment to recognising and nurturing excellence in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical research, this programme aims to support highly trained Indian researchers at a critical stage in their academic journey and offer them an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to academia, industry, and national scientific priorities.
- Age Limit : Less than 30 years
Selection of post-doctoral fellows will be done in 3 Phases:
- Phase – 1: Candidates to submit Pre-Proposals through the sponsoring institution/university in the attached format in consultation with the proposed mentor. The sponsorship from the same institution/university where the candidate has completed PhD will not be eligible.
- Phase – 2: Short listed candidates to submit full proposal in the prescribed format which will be provided along with selection letter.
- Phase – 3: Candidates to appear for personal discussion with members of the Jury at SPSF office. Travel & Accommodation for the same will be provided by SPSF. All candidates will be informed about final selection within 7 days after interview.
The selected candidates will have to activate the fellowships by joining the sponsored mentor/ institution/ university within a maximum of 12 weeks post offer falling which wait-listed candidates will be offered. Request to change host institution/university will not be entertained during the fellowship period.
Major criteria for selection will be:
- Quality of the candidate including publications
- Quality of the research proposal
- Quality of the mentor and his/her host organisation
Number of fellowships to be offered in 2026:
- Maximum of 10 for placement in sponsoring academic Indian institutions with mentors chosen by the candidates in universities, national laboratories/science institutions.
Last date of submitting applications will be March 31, 2026 and one copy of your submitted documents to reach our office by April 15, 2026.
Eligibility:
PhD in Biological/Biomedical and allied subjects. Those who have submitted their PhD thesis will be eligible provided they acquire their degree on time to activate the fellowship. The fellowship is open only to Indian Nationals to work in India.

- 3 years with mandatory annual review of progress and liable to be discontinued on unsatisfactory performance.

Fellowship Terms:
- Monthly fellowships: Rs. 75,000/- (Rupees Seventy Five Thousand only) per month which will be increased annually.
Contingency:
- Rs. 7,50,000/- (Rupees Seven Lacs Fifty Thousand only) PA in 1st year.
- Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lacs only) PA in 2nd and 3rd year.
